Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am writing with sadness to report the tragic death of one of our students.  Catherine Tran, a 16-year-old Grade 11 student, passed away following a traffic accident yesterday afternoon.

Catherine was a thoughtful, hard working student and a positive presence in our school.

She was an accomplished pianist and flute player.  Catherine also found time for sports through the badminton and tennis teams.  Every May, Catherine was an integral part of our Café Oasis celebration of the arts.  She will be sadly missed by fellow students and staff at Woodbridge College.

Today, trained school board personnel have been available to speak with students and staff who have been affected by Catherine’s death.  In the coming weeks, we will find appropriate ways to honour her memory.  Details of any funeral arrangements will be posted on the school website, if the family requests it.

I know you will join me in extending heartfelt condolences to Catherine’s family and friends.
