ARE YOU AN EFFECTIVE LEARNER?

This "question and answer" survey may help you spot where you might start to improve your study skills. Take a few minutes to read through each question and just check either the YES or NO column. Be HONEST!!

1. Do you always understand what you are supposed to do for homework before you leave the classroom?    
2. Do you plan, make a rough copy of, and check your homework or assignments regularly?
   
3. Do you voluntarily revise a subject even if exams or tests are not due for some time?
   
4. If you are having problems with a subject, do you talk it over with your teacher as soon as you can?
   
5. Do you plan how long an assignment will take to finish?
   
6. Do you do complete your homework or assignment in advance of its deadline?
   
7. Do you have a place at home where you can study without being distracted?
   
8. Do you take short breaks when you are tired?
   
9. Do you take notice and act upon the comments and suggestions your teacher might make about your work?

5-8 NO boxes – Study skills OK, but room for improvement

9-12 NO boxes – This study skills session will HELP you

Over 12 NO boxes – You are in BIG TROUBLE!!!! You must really listen to this study skills session
